Now that you've said it Jim, the leaflets do look much more like subsp. u=rshima
than subsp. thunbergii. That's probably the answer, but we can only guess
without more to go by.

The foliage in the photo looks more like ssp. urashima to me. Ssp. thunberg=ii has much narrower leaflets. I do not grow ssp. autumnale, which is qui=te rare.
I certainly agree that one needs to see more of the plant.! In my garden ss=p. urashima's pseudostem is green while that of ssp. thunbergii is reddish=2C and the inflorescenses are unmistakably different.
