Just a thought on you crosses of the same species that didn't work. Surel==

all species should most readily cross with others of the same species,
otherwise there would be no such thing as a species, all plants would be
hybrids. Is it possible that all of the plants you tried to cross were th==
e
same genetic clones, i.e. divisions of the same plant. Many plants recogn==
ise
their own pollen, and reject it, requiring pollen from the same species, ==
but
a genetically distinct individual. If however, your plants are all seed
grown, and therefore genetically different, i am at a loss to explain why==
they will not cross with the same species.
