Steve:
A large section of our woodland garden is under 3 huge black walnut
trees. While the plants do secrete toxins, there toxicity is greatly
exagerated. We have found very little that won't grow fine under these
trees. Several factors can minimize the effect including prompt removal
of fallen, leaves and nuts as well as using a liberal amount of compost
in the soil.
