Arisaema emergence and timing

Hi all, It is suggested that arisaemas emerge in our gardens approximately
at the same time they would in their native habits, that being governed by
the local climate. I'd go along with that but by manipulating the climate,
we can make them emerge at a different time.
A good example is A. ringens which emerges in my garden November (early
summer here) but down the road at the Dunedin Botanic Gardens, it is always
in bloom along with A. sikokianum, both grown in pots and under cover in the
winter. They're stunning at the Otago Alpine Garden Group's Spring Show,
last weekend in Sept (mid spring).
Lesley in Dunedin, New Zealand, said to be zone 9 but I don't believe it!
