The same here, Gene. To prevent early emergence (and consequent
zapping by frost), the latest A. thumbergii v urashima was planted in
one of the coldest areas in the yard, a "well drained" spot under
spruce. That was four years ago. Until this spring, there had been
no sign of it or of the five greenhouse-grown seedlings planted at
the same time. This year, spring was prolonged, cool, without frost
and ample with wet. Not only did the arisaema reappear and flower -
for close to six weeks, an unusually long period of time, to boot -
but all five of the seedlings showed up to witness the event.
