thank you Gene!. Even after transplanting, WOW! Very important
information. The question now is...WHAT does the tuber do while it is
sitting there in the ground (dormant??? what is dormant? gotta be doing
something...no?) Has anyone grown these in glass-sided pots to see what's
going on underground, like watching an ants' nest?) Is this the answer to
plants appearing where there weren't any before until they were run over?
Dormancy? Did water gathering in the ruts made by wheels, provide a
necessary boost to get them going again. Is this a normal characteristic of
some of these species to manage dry weather? clayey soils? Lots of room for
research here.
