Maybe also, Ray, the state of the fruit.  I find less sting or
aftermath when the berries have ripened fully on the plant, the head
fresh picked and the cleaning  done under the hard flow cold running
water.  Should a berry on the same head be slightly toward the green,
have over-aged on the ground or been left to shrivel a bit on the
window sill, wow.   A matter of concentration of the crystals?   Deer
eat arisaema foliage in the Fall that they don't touch in the Spring.
Can it be that the oxalic carbonate crystals dissipate (they don't
dissolve) at the end of the season and in the ripening process but
are more concentrated if the berries are dried?
