Hello,

Last week I joined the AEG and would like to shortly introduce myself. I =live
in Holland
and have been growing arisaema for 12 years now, mostly from seeds. Becau=se
there
are only few arisaema considered to be reliably hardy in Holland, i grow =most
of them
in posts and overwinter them in a small greenhouse together with the cycl=amen
sp's
and lachenalia's.
I have two chilren, one boy of 3 years and a daughter of 3 months and my
wife, who
likes also arisaema's, but prefers the cyclamen.

I have been wondering for some time now, especially with my son showing
somtimes
too much interest in 'gardening', if there is anybody who can tell if it =is
true that
arisaema-berries are poisonous. I noticed that the berries aree never eat=en,
not
by birds, nor by rodents. Even the slugs seem to avoid them.
Of Arum i know that all parts are very poisonous (aroine), but i do not k=now
this
about arisaema, nor do i know the workings of the poison.

Best regards,
George Schonthaler
