I just installed it (it took a while; it complained about libipe.dylib
not being compiled for x86 but for ppc; but after I manually removed
libipe* from /opt/local/lib, it recompiled the lib and then the rest of
IPE without problems) and it does not use X11. It starts up amazingly
fast, but the window starts up in the background. Furthermore the dock
('task bar') icon is not an ipe-icon but a generic 'exec' icon (but I
don't care). It's version 7.0.8. All ctrl-shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl-L for
Latex) are, just as it should be, replaced by Command-shortcuts
(Command-L). Remove-axes is Command-F1 and also works perfectly (but I'm
going to modify it to `, because I use it a lot).

I am really happy that it has become so easy to install IPE on the Mac
(I had heard too many stories of people compiling ipe themselves and
having a lot of trouble, so I did not dare to try). Until now I always
had to start up a VirtualBox with Ubuntu, just to run IPE. Now I can
really work with it on the mac!

It seems that the links on that page are broken.

Thank you, Otfried, for this amazing program!
