[Arisaema-l] Arisaema ringens seed pod question

I've had my ringens for over 20 years now, thriving and blooming like a fool as early as February every year. Six or seven years ago it FINALLY set seed for the very first time. I cleaned them that fall and planted them the following spring. Within 2 years they were blooming too and now I have them planted all over my garden. Seems like I'm seeing more seed heads mature these days although most still wither.

My experience is that it's not that common and yes you will get viable seeds.

Subject: [Arisaema-l] Arisaema ringens seed pod question

Of my three mature Arisaema ringens plants that bloomed this year, two are making pods that have a few large berries, but the rest looks like one of those non-fertile pods that withers before the plant goes over. See attached picture.

My third ringens had a non-fertile pod that has already withered. No pods on any last year.

I have not had pods like this before. Is it common? Am I likely to get viable seed from the large berries, or will the whole pod likely just wither?
