Dear Jim,
I think you misunderstood me. I was referring to the cost to a person
*not*on the continent of North America wishing to purchase plants
*from* nurseries on that continent.
It seems strange to me that a purchaser in the USA should be any more
worried over importing plants from Canada than any one else.
I don't grudge payment for the work the nurseries do, I observed 20% was
reasonable.. etc

>From my experience Joe Pye Weed is good value. It seems to me, from their
new website, that Pacific Rim also offer very good value for those wishing
to import plants *from* them to countries outside the North American
Continent, as well as those in the USA.

>From reading the export costs of other nurseries in their catalogues and
web sites, both Canadian and the USA nurseries sometimes have costs around
to $70.00 or more *per item, *in addition to the price of the plant,*
*depending
on the size of the order. (This is not including CITES plants). That seems
prohibitive to me.
Best wishes
Peter
