Dear Peter,
I think many gardeners in the US might have some fears about
importing plants even from neighboring Canada. This is not rocket
science. The USDA can provide a very general plant import permit at
no cost (free) (All forms on the www. The exporter has the
responsibility for getting a phytosanitary inspection and
certification. Plants have to prepared according to regulations and
this takes time which costs money. Except for the import permit and
cash, and a bit of worry, this is all done by the exporter.

Some of these regulations seem odd for American 'importing'
from far off 'Canada', but the same regulations protect Americans
from more difficult imports from far off countries. I would not
recommend importing orchids from Madagascar for example, but I know
some one who has done this too. Much more work involved.

And this is a very sound and reliable nursery. Just write and
ask if you have questions.
