However, plant physiology books not published in English would definitely
not be worth shelf space in my library, since English is, regrettably, the
only language that I read, and I also don't have many non-English speaking
visitors inquiring into details of plant physiology. I even doubt that my
wife, who is German, but came over when she was 16, would prefer to read
German about those details.
It is understandable that on an Arisaema Enthusiast Group list, a book on
aroids that devotes a scant 10 pages to Arisaema might be dismissed as "not
terribly useful". Her book is a good read and very interesting, but it does
lean heavily toward tropicals and omits many of aroids of the open garden
that we so want to grow. So, as a manual for identifying or cultivation of
arisaemas, I would agree that, it is "not terribly useful". Guy's book would
be a much better choice for that. But, as a fascinating, well-researched and
well-written account of many of the quirky plants in the family, I would
highly recommend it.
So, my humble opinion is that you are both right!

I'm a very rare poster to AEG but I feel moved to email on this in order
to
put the record straight regarding Deni's book.
It is a masterful tour de force -an extraordinary synthesis from a vast
array of often obscure literature and sources compiled over many years.
And
it was done twice. The second edition stands as THE premier source of
information on the aroids aimed at a non-technical audience. That is to
say
the vast majority of AEG readers. To dismiss this book as 'not terribly
useful' is about as intelligent as declaring any books on, e.g., plant
physiology not published in English (that is to say most of them) as 'not
worth shelf space'.
I have ccd this email to Deni.
