I find that there are far more plants that will grow under a walnut than
will not. There is a mature black walnut in the center of my garden. In
close proximity is the yellow lady slipper orchid, ferns, witch-hazel tre=e,
monkshood, hellebores, other wildflowers that have seeded about in the ar=ea.
Since I have clay soil on my hillside I usually construct
raised beds from almost all plants including arisaema. Ringens I have had
for many years now. Our natives dracontium and triphyllum in several form=s
move about in the garden. I do not have the time to look up the spelling =of
the several other species in the garden that have been there for some yea=rs.
I personally believe it is the "well-drained" in winter that is important=to
the tubers survival. Having said that. there is no one answer to all spec=ies
of arisaema. one has to do their homework before transplanting, then do s=ome
sweat work in the garden.
