Okay=2C I did a bit more research and the general use for this gravel f=orm =
of DE
matches solidly with what Hein said back at the beginning of the thread:
"The idea is that diatomaceous earth buffers water and fertilizers in a v=er=
y natural way."
Apparently it slowly realeases a soluable form of silicon as well.
 
So... that and the general pointiness would point to bad for seedlings go=od=
for amending
the planting medium for mature plants=2C or top dressing my houseplants=aga=
inst fungus gnats (perhaps).

ct repellent=2C but for some 
reason it didn't register that the gravel was the same substance.  I'm gl=ad=
I asked because I was 
unaware that the means of repelling insects was mechanical laceration. Ou=ch=
