I use it in doors at my cottage if I suspect I have carpenter ants coming
inside. I put it on the floor perimeters and it is very effective. The
nice part is that pets won't get hurt by giving it a taste or two, althou=gh
I would agree to avoid inhaling it. The sharp edges are like glass to an
insect and cut its exoskeleton and the critter then dehydrates. Using it
outdoors is a very green way to control insects particularly dusting plan=ts
attacked by larvae or caterpillars. Unfortunately it doesn't stand up to
rain so you have to re-apply.

The usual use for diatomaceous earth is as an insect repellant. The very
sharp edges of the diatoms irritate the bugs and they go elsewhere. I'd b=e
afraid they might wound the tender seedling tuberlets.

Spread it around plants that are attacked by crawling insects or donate i=t
to your garden club. That's what I did with mine.
