Is there any rhyme or reason to timing of a cold (in the fridge) cycle
for arisaema seeds.  I have now put about 14 groups of seed through the
first germination and growth cycle and up to the dormant stage.
Results have been all over:

- Some have been in fridge for over 6 months with no change.  I took a
few tubers out and after 3 weeks they have still not started growing.

- A. sikokianum turned from round balls to teardrop shapes with green
points and growth started in 3 weeks in fridge.

- A. franchetianum began a second growth cycle with no cold treatment.
One week after the eophyll browned off, as I was ready to unpot and put
in fridge, I noticed points coming up in the pot.  Two of them put out
nice trifoliate leaves complete with cataphylls.  Leaves are now about
a foot tall and 4 inches across.  This happened during August, so they
definitely did not get chilled.

Are these widely disparate results really what is to be expected?
