Hello Anne and Darryl. I'm sort of happy with A. ciliatum v.liubaense. It
invasiveness is very mild compared to some things I have that are more like
Kudzu in the south. Glenview is like Chicago and fairly tough gardening. The
plants I have are about 18-20" high, and so far, the stoloniferousness has
given me about 6 plants closely spaced to one another. My soil is a fairly
heavy clay-based loam, that is problematic for many plants.
It seems to do well along with A. triphyllum, amurense, and sikotak. A.
candidissimum comes up but seems to shrink each year. I can't say that
anything else does particularly well, although sikokianum and asperatum did
well for about 2 years and then vanished, for reasons unknown. Adam in
Glenview, IL USDA Z 5a (lately about 7)
