New MemberHello Neil. You should be able to grow most of them outdoors, ==
except for the tropical ones from the Burmese border, Viet Nam and =
Africa, etc. I am growing outdoors (Zone 5a) with most winters only =
down to Zero=B0 Fahr.. Your major problem will be drainage, and givng ==
them enough light. Not much has been mentioned here about timing of =
water, warmth, freeze ,etc, but I'm finding it a real factor in survival ==
of some of them, particularly lobatum, nepenthoides, griffithii. =
Consanguineums (the range of them), sikokianum, amurense, triphyllums, =
fargesii, tortuosum are all fairly tough and tolerant of whatever is =
thrown at them, and take at least half day of sun--more if dappled. =
The yellow concinum (Gaoligong) is a bit tricky, but I may have a handle ==
on it. I'll know next spring. Adam in Glenview,IL (Chicago suburb)

Hello there,
I have just joined the AEG and would like to introduce ==
myself.
My name is Neil Ramsden and I live on the East Coast of England just =
at the mouth of the river Humber.
I have been growing Arisaema's for about eight years now, ( with =
limited success I must admit ) and having seen the AEG pages on the =
internet I thought that I would join to try and increase my knowledge of ==
these fascinating plants.
The hardiness zone where I live is zone 9, ( that's something I have =
just found out as well ) and most of my plants I grow in pots in a cold =
greenhouse. I have started to plant a few more in the ground over the =
last couple of years to try to reduce the ammount that I am loosing to =
rot, and so far this seems to be reasonably successful. Having said that ==
we haven't had any really cold winters over the last few years ( -7C is =
about the lowest it has been ) so time will tell.
I look forward to hearing from other members of the group and hope =
that in time I will be able to contribute as well.
Neil Ramsden
