Location, location -I guess. Here in the zone 5 snowbelt, I have two
colonies of A. candidissimum that thrive, multiply, bloom and set
seed, and come back year after year, all with the benefit of total
neglect. They're in the soil we have - no targeted amendments, though
typically compost is dug in before planting, and mulch, or spent compost,
is spread over the top from time to time, as available - basically a
clayey loam; the best ones get a few hours of direct sun daily. Some tub=ers
are deeper, some are shallow - doesn't seem to matter much. They're happ=y
campers.
This winter may be a test of their fortitude, though. Weird, weird
weather.
