Subject: Re: Arisaema dilatatum germination quandry

Hello,
You're right, these seeds were most probably not viable.
On the other hand, Arisaema dilatatum germinates without producing a blad=e, an eophyll. One must wait till the second growing season to see the us=ual green leaf. With Deno's method, it is easy to watch the development o=f the protocorms. If these are not produced, there is something wrong wit=h the seeds or, perhaps, with the paper towel. I had sometimes bad result=s, probably because the paper towel was chemically processed. No problems=, however, when using moist surgical cotton wool.
