Adam,

I don't actually plant the seeds so am not sure which ones are brand
new or which ones have been around for a while. /A. triphyllum/ is
weed-like here, i.e. I have to rip it out to protect the ladyslipers,
et al.

But I have noticed that the jacks under the dripping birdbath grow much
larger in youth (and maturity) than elsewhere in my garden.

And likewise, the jacks at the Rice Creek woodland display, with
irrigation and fertilizer (I don't feritlize), are much larger yet.

So my observations would indicate it has a lot to do with environment.

I grow a Minnesota variety brought in from the wild.

Rice Creek Gardens grows plants that came from Pennsylvania.
