Winter seedling care

I shall be interested in the answers to this.--if only because I cannot
regard the winter of 9a as "normal" . Normal (for me) is Chicago-style
weather of +10 to -20 F. for December 15 to Feb 1 or something like that.
I have already consigned the poor babies to their fates some 4 inches
underground outside in a soil, sand, and pinebark mix. Big time risk
because I don't know the origin of the consanguineum and candidissiimum
seeds I got (Seedex ).

However, I quite appreciate Joyce's concern and need to seek advice.
My wintering-over conditions in the house, on the windowsill have never been
much use for seedlings which are "out of phase" with their built-in genetic
requirements.
An aside: Bulbmeister is offering a few arisaemas still for fall shipment.
The nepenthoides I got from him was beautiful and I think I will try a few
more. Try www.bulbmeister.com for his website. Adam in Glenview, IL
