Dear Jim and all afflicted with Arisaemopathy,
I too feel the tension and anguish of watching a bare spot in the garden
and wondering "is the tuber still down there or not?" and some times givi=ng
in to the temptation to poke and probe. I've had a silver-centered
consanguineum from Seneca Hill come up once in early spring, rot off, and
up again in the fall 2 years ago. Last year it and its scattered division=s
came up "normally" in early summer while a DJHC009 from Heronswood with
long drip tips came up late summer.
Now blooming is a garden growing pale triphyllum that did a repeat autumn
show last year after the summer drought.
My tender Arisaema 'species 001' bloomed for me. It appears to be identic=al
to a tropical one on Ryo herold's page which I now cannot open. The
first-bloom flower of the only seedling I had that survived is now drying
and its pollen will be saved too. When it goes dormant I just unpot the
tuber, wrap it in a paper towel and label it, and in the kitchen cupboard
it goes with dormant Amorphophallus. Checked frequently it is potted up a=nd
watered when growth resumes.
Jim, I'm sending you refridgerated pollen from my Arisaema wilsonii in a
small plastic vial!
Bonaventure
