A urashima (thunbergii) has been up here for over a month now,
Bonaventure. Ithaca is at least one, likely two zones colder than
you. For what it is worth, it did not appear at all last year.
Since it wasn't run over by a truck (as others have reported) and
since this is an academic community, I assume went on sabbatic.
Maybe yours has too. Don't give up yet.

Unfortunately that wasn't the case with 7 A. ringens sited under Ilex
and locust that were husky, healthy and huge last year but gone to
gooey mush this spring. A smaller cluster in a more open site that
suffered marked leaf burn in broil of last summer's heat, have been
in bloom now for more than a month and appear to have produced a
couple of pups per tuber. Win some; lose some.
