Things came up

Hello Jim,
I would not be too quick on that judgment. I have had A. thumbergii lay
dormant for r3 years after a transplant. I moved it from where it was happy
to a place I wanted it more... and it proceeded to go dormant. Thought I had
lost it. Just so happened I planted a small groundcover in the area...
partridge berry... so I did not chop up the tuber. I came up much smaller
and with more stems, but it is back as of last year. Looking a bit better
this spring. Perhaps next year a bloom or two.
I would mark the spot and let things flow for a while.
