Subject: Gusmans' book arrived; various Arisaema triphyllums
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed
Hi everyone,
The book by the Gusmans arrived, and I love it! Lots of useful and
interesting information now right at my fingertips. Super pictures!
Does anyone know of a source of tubers or seeds of either of the diploid
races of Arisaema triphyllum? I really want a diploid triphyllum for som=e
breeding studies. If you have either one of the two diploid subspecies,
please contact me privately at <jshields104 at insightbb.com> if you would
sell or trade.
I'm interested in interspecific hybrids and their relative hardiness
outside their natural habitat conditions. The triphyllums I have, native
to Indiana, would not set seed on the Asian plants I tried last spring
(ringens and thunbergii) and I presume are all A. triphyllum ssp.
triphyllum, the tetraploid form.
I ordered a few tubers of the Arisaema that McClure & Zimmerman offer in
their Spring 2003 catalog. I'm very curious to see what quality and
condition of tubers they are supplying this year. The three species I
ordered are all tender, so I guess I'll have to find room inside for them
in winter! I don't suppose they would help convince the wife that I need
yet another greenhouse.....
