I think that the drainage caution applies differently from one species to
another, and is particularly important for A. sikokianum and some other A=sian
species. Many A. triphyllum grow naturally in wet areas, especially subsp.
stewardardsonii.

Winter wet seems to be the main problem, and, if anything, pot culture is
probably safer if watering is managed properly.
