Dear Group,
I have concluded that my first query must be A. heterophyllum, but I have
also considered A. thunbergii, which is what I think I had ordered
originally. The "jacks" are uniformly 28" high, but I haven't found
remarks on the very pronounced linear pattern of offsets, or the purple
striping of the stalk. Also, the "jack" has always been plain green, no
purple. The spadices were remarkably upreaching, though in their
maturity, they droop.
Regarding the second query, the bloom is much lower, at about 18", and
the trifoliate leaf is very pronounced, reminiscent of A. ringens. The
hood is NOt hooked, but extends at about 90 degrees to a long point, The
entire spadix is striped, gentle purple at the base (even in the white
form), and green at the top. The very then hooked spadix is green at the
base, purple as it hooks out of the spathe, total length about 1 3/4
inches.
Thanks for the help; I am hoping for seeds to share, and I don't want to
label incorrectly.
