Hi all,
Zantedeschia aethiopica seeds planted (after soaking overnight or a bit
longer) on 21 June are starting to sprout green shoots that show above th=e mix.
How long is it likely to take for seeds in A. triphyllum to ripen? How
does one judge when seeds are ripe enough to collect and clean? These ar=e
still green and firm, so they are not ripe yet.
As I recall from some of the explanations I've read of the current ICNCP
rules for naming cultivated plants, you can name what we used to call a
"strain" if it breeds true enough from seed. Some of these unusual types
of Arisaema, like the giant triphyllum, ought to be considered for naming
as a cultivar group. Does anyone have a large supply of breeding materia=l
for that plant?
Regards,
Jim
