Sorry, Paul, A. flavum ssp. flavum is just like A. flavum ssp. abbreviatu=m
except larger. Think of it as ugly squared.
The one you want is A. flavum ssp. tibeticum. Some of these are quite
spectacular in a miniature way. Pure lemon yellow held high above the
leaves, they just seem to float in the air.
As far as being pests, I can't keep them alive for more than 2 years here.
I think it's the hot summers and the wet winters. Members in the cooler
northeast have no trouble at all.
