Petra Dear,

Watch, Wilbert is after you for badmouthing hostas. Actually, I had to re==
move (read: give away) a bunch of hostas to make room for all those other==
goodies, including aroids. One-half of an acre only holds so much and I ==
secretly had to say what you wrote: The heck with that hosta, this would ==
be a good place for Disporum cantoniense... or...or...! For my new book, ==
I trialed many, many plants right here and my garden is better for it. Wh==
o needs 600 clumps of Hosta 'Honeybells' anyway. Diversity is the measure==
of a garden and my days of making monogeneric gardens are long gone, act==
ually they were never much there to begin with. So I forgive you, but I a==
m no so sure about Wilbert.

About the Big One: Are you planning on trialing seeds of it? I never did.==
I did let some of the seed pods ripen (to take picures) and some critter==
s made off with a bunch of seeds. Some are coming up here and there in my==
garden and even as babies show they might be big ones too. I hope they c==
arried a bunch into the woods and we may have a new population starting s==
omewhere.

W. George S.
