Paul, Marge and Jim,

Thank you for the suggestions.  I'm watching for from one to three
leaves to come up.  I already discovered that the medium I am using can
dry plants and seeds out quite quickly once it's dry, but with the right
amount of peat moss added it does that very slowly and so isn't hard to
keep an eye on.   I'm really glad to hear they're not so prone to rot at
this stage.
