This question has been debated for the past few years. Developing fertile
seeds without fertilization is called apomixis. If you go to the Arisaema-L
archives
http://listserv.surfnet.nl/archives/arisaema-l.html
and search under that word, you can get a fairly recent update on the
subject. The bottom line is that it probably does not occur, despite some
reported anecdotal experiences.
If anyone knows anything new on the subject, please post something.
