Subject: Importing Arisaema into the EU

Neil Carroll writes:

In the EU we have a different CITES. We have the normal CITES Appendix 1,
2 and 3, but here they are called Annex A, B and C. We have also Annex
D.

Annex D is not CITES per se, but the level of import of
certain species is so high that they are monitored by the EU.

When you are importing plants into the EU ,from outside the EU, which are
listed in
Annex D you have to notify Customs. When you fail to do this they can
confiscate the plants and give you a considerable fine.

The following Araceae are standing in the Annex D:

Arisaema dracontium
Arisaema erubescens
Arisaema galeatum
Arisaema jacquemontii
Arisaema nepenthoides
Arisaema sikokianum
Arisaema speciosum
Arisaema thunbergii ssp. urashima
Arisaema tortuosum
Arisaema triphyllum

Biarum davisii ssp. davisii
Biarum davisii ssp. marmarisense
Biarum ditschianum

I didn't know this and perhaps you didn't either.
