Dear Paul;
Self sown seed germinate fairly quickly, but I have had less
luck with seed-exchange seed which come very dried out.
I soak dry seed until it sinks ( takes a couple days), then
plant in pots kept warm for a week or two for the soaking to really
go through. Then they go outside in a cold frame. Germination is
highly irregular with some germinating in the late summer/ fall and
others waiting until spring. Germination is generally good.
If you consistently see rot, roll the damp seed in anti fungal po=wder.
Keep trying. Jim W.
