Dear Jim;
Sorry for the late reply-been away.
I keep trying Arum species here in Zone 5 - probably colder
than where you are. Long term survivors include-
A italicum has gone through -20 winters (no snow) self sows
moderately and is essentially fool proof. ( a couple of strains)
A. maculatum - same
A. nigrum -same
Less long term (3 years +/-)but generally favorable
experience with the following:
A. elongatum
A. byzantinum
A. dioscoridis
These last three have gone through at least a few winters,
but none terribly severe.
New and very probable are
A. rupicola
A. orientale
A.idaeum
And I keep a few surely tender species in a cold greenhouse.
Eventually I'll sacrifice some just because.
Good luck Jim W.
