Hello Jim,
Not far from you her in southern Indiana. Have had Arum italicum in t=he
garden for many years now. Long enough to have plants popping up througho=ut
the garden and beyond. Not invasive, simply they do spread about given
sufficient time. Mine are in two locations in the garden. One is rocky,
poor soil at the base of a mature tree, setting sun exposure. Also have A.
marmoratum there. Both do just fine. Another planting is in wonderful soi=l
in open shade among large rocks. This one gets dug and divided to supply =the
nursery needs every 3rd year.
Once established, they will take just about anything weather can
provide, including the -20 and -30 degrees they have been through here...
just kills back exposed foliage which proceeds to be replaced first warme=r
spell.
Best time to transplant would be while mostly dormant in September,
first of October, but I think they will handle just about any time you
choose to play with them.
