Robin,

I must agree with your assessment of A. flavum ssp. flavum or A. flavum
ssp. abbreviatum.
But, in spite of it's small flower, A. flavum ssp. tibeticum is a jewel.
It stands up tall
and is gorgeous. All A. flavum will benefit from a dry site. In fact I
lost them regularly
until I learned that.

On cleaning berries, most if not all Arisaema parts have the needle like
crystals
that inflict pain. The degree of pain seems to be variable by person and
even
state of person. I've never had the problem, but many people have at one
time
or another. Gloves do make sense.
