I have the same problem if I rub a lot of small tubers without gloves, an=d
certainly with seed cleaning. I've always assumed it was the high
concentration of oxalates in arisaemas, which is supposed to be the reaso=n
that they are unpalatable to most critters. It could certainly be somethi=ng
else, but I would guess chemical, as opposed to allergy or mechanical.
