Yep, I'm surprised too - in cold, miserable Scotland where we haven't
really had any warmth yet to speak of, the spikes that are through the
ground are ringens, sikokianum, serratum, limabatum, but the earliest of
all is always nepenthoides, can't recommend that species strongly
enough. It is well above ground now, still in its sheathing cataphylls,
but about 6 inches or more tall.
