Catalog Time

The temperature on our veranda is an unbelievable 74F. The white Quince
is fully out, several Hellebore flowers have opened, the Bluets are
blooming,
but the Daphne odora is still waiting to burst forth. What can I tell
you.
It's zephyr though - knocked down one of Rose Ann's topiaries that was
on top of a table on the upper deck. As usual, I cut myself cleaning up
the broken
pot and getting it into a new one. I can't go to the bathroom anymore
without
cutting myself somehow. It's a nuisance.
It's catalog time again and I've received some really good ones:
Seneca Hills Perennials - Ellen Hornig - <hornig at oswego.edu>
Ellen offers her usual set of wonderful plants - the quality is superb
Try Asarum cordata 'Yamazaki'. It's a winner; or Arisaema
candidissimum
the best quality I've seen. Even her competition admits these are
tops.
Gardens North - Kristl Walek - <garnorth at istar.ca>
Kristl's supply of unusual seeds increases every year. If you're
having a hard time waiting, Kristl's seeds will bring springtime
to your house early this year.
Plant Delights Nursery - Tony Avent - <tony at plantdel.com>
I'm still waiting for Tony's Spring catalog. If it's worth growing,
Tony will have it.
Asiatica - Andy Wong & Barry Yinger - <asiatica at ezonline.com>
Andy and Barry offer many of the worlds most interesting Arisaema and
Asarum.
You don't have to go to Europe to get the really desirable Arisaema
anymore. Between Ellen, Tony, and Andy you'll find most anything
your heart desires. And they all grow them to be sure you get what
you thought you ordered, acclimatized, and in excellent shape.
Other AEG members that run nurseries, like Gene Bush, etc. will
be sending out their catalogs soon. I'll report them as they arrive.
