Don't you think that these two are the same? There seems to be no general
agreement on the name, particularly in the nursery trade.
I should add that this species is one of those which, although it germina=tes
readily, doesn't usually form more than a radicle in its first growth cyc=le.
The first leaf appears after the first winter or cold period. So, if it's
planted outside, you may not see anything until the second spring.
As far as I know, no arisaema needs cold to germinate, but there are othe=r
species which only form a radicle the first year. This is not a true "dou=ble
dormancy". It's just that under garden conditions we can't see what's goi=ng
on beneath the surface. Pretty much the same as with trilliums, although =with
them a cold period is usually needed before the radicle appears.
