These are current results of my seedex reciept this year. I welcome
questions, critiques, and advise.
I have taken the small pea sized tubers from the first years growth
(planted in April) out of 3-4 month refridgeration now. Consanguineum,
amurense, and flavum (a little less regularly) are all sprouting again but
the kishidaes are becoming soft, flaccid and rotting on the soil surface.
The kishidaes have formed the largest tubers (all species under identical
cultural conditions, with allowances for entering dormancy) and had mostly
vigorous 3-parted (one 5!) serrated leaflets. One tuber was nearly the size
of a chick pea! Only a few ciliatum liubanense were taken out, as the tiny
(not much bigger than the seed) sized 1st year tubers were then lost also.
Yamatense (tiny 1st tubers) also did this, but only two of the seeds of
that species sprouted in the first place. Serratum never sprouted.
exACE2031 grew nicely and formed small tubers, but went dormant very late
and so still are in refridgeration.
Specifically I am looking for advise on how to treat the remaining kishidae
I still have chilled so as not to lose those (any climactic/environmental
data for me?). I hope that I can do well with the exACE2031's when they
come out for their 2nd growth cycle soon. They formed rather large, to 1"
across, heart shaped leaves on long scrambling, almost vining petioles.
