Shawne,
See the post answering Holly's question on seed.
Wintering over depends on where you live. Here in zone 7, mine grow fine
all year long.
The Z. albomaculata will go dormant in winter, but the Z. aethiopica will
try to grow all year long.
I just cut them back two weeks ago and the new leaves are already almost
2 ft. tall. Eventually,
a hard freeze will get them and I'll have to cut away the mush. But,
they'll be back again in
late February.
I don't provide any special cover for Z. albomaculata and the oldest
plant is over 5 years old
and has been blooming every year since '97. The Z. rehmanii are even
older.
I suspect where the ground freezes the tubers should be lifted. They're
just under the surface and
would be damaged by a freeze. Zantedeschia will grow indoors too.
I defer to others from the colder climates on exactly what to do.
