Subject: Arisaema Bockii (A. du-bois-reymondiae)

I'm as guilty as the next in not giving Roy and Wilbert encouragement. I
have looked at
the picture and it is the plant that several of us are growing.

I don't know enough to discuss Wilbert's tentative ID except that it
looks nothing like Nina's
A. Bockii. But, I gather this was not really A. bockii anyway.

I certainly appreciated the picture and Wilbert's comments on the plant.
I just wish we
could follow the path of finding confirmation for the ID and not be
distracted by side
issues.

If I count correctly, there are 6 of us growing this plant and it is the
same plant in
all 6 cases, that's a positive (Roy, Jim, Bobbie, Wilbert, Anne, and I).
Are there others
growing the plant? If so, how does your plant compare to the picture on
Roy's page
and to the descriptions I gave? Let's hear from y'all. I know Guy is
growing it too, but
it's too early to tell in Belgium.

I must admit I'm disappointed that it's not A. du-bois-reymondiae - the
name is so
fascinating.

On another subject - is there an English translation of Engler's great
work? If so,
can I get it on the web?
