Subject: Another stoloniferous A. triphyllum
Mime-Version: 1.0

Ellen Hornig reported several weeks ago on some Arisaema triphyllum that
appeared to be forming stolons. I think we all consider this to be unusua=l in
that species.

I just unpotted some of Ray Stilwell's A. triphyllum "NLC' s. These are t=ubers
that just finished their third growth cycle, from seeds planted two years=ago
(11-96).

In addition to the 8 medium-size tubers, there were four definite stolons=in
the pot. They had already detached themselves from the parent tubers. The=y
have been refrigerated in damp turface for another 3 month "winter". I'll
probably plant the tubers outside in April, but will keep the stolons in =a pot
to see if they grow. In the past I've not had much success growing stolon=s on
(or, for that matter, detached arisaema offsets), and any suggestions wou=ld be
welcomed.
