Nah, it's just resting. If you completely lose the main leaf, there should
be plenty of dormant buds around the periphery of the tuber that will take
over. If it's early in the season for your plant (I trust you forced it
inside), you may see new, smaller leaves appear in a few weeks. If it's
late in the season, the whole plant may go dormant for a while until its
normal time to start up again.
Do not, I repeat, do not kill your cat. Even if the voles and mice cheer
you on.
