abnormal leaves

Are you putting any osmocote or other fertilizer into the potting mix? Your
curled-up leaves sound similar to some of the problems I described here
several weeks ago, which I'm sure were due to osmocote.

If not, and if the lights are not fluorescent, it could well be the
heat/dessication. You might try putting a plastic bag supported by stakes
over the pots to increase humidity and see if that helps.
