Worked well for me. I even found that primula and other plants could exist in
good condition for a year in turface. If the container is kept in about an
inch of moist to wet turface (as opposed to standing water) with fertilizer
added, many plants are happy for quite a long time. The roots tend to move
out of the container and down into the moist turface. A real help to anyone
who has to be away from the plants for a week or more. Of course I did not
plan to keep anything in turface for such a long time--just didn't get around
to moving them.
